For a few extraordinary minutes, parts of Europe seemed to lose the day.

In Britain, for example, more than 90 percent of the Sun was obscured in many areas, creating a striking twilight-like atmosphere even though totality did not occur.

Across France, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and other parts of Europe, people gathered in parks, mountains, city landmarks and open spaces to watch the partial eclipse.
